Good to know
Can I come alone?
Yes, we encourage it. You can book a room on your own and we will match you with one other person in the luxury accommodation, or you can book the room to yourself. About half of our guests come alone. The rest come with family members, friends and partners.
How do shared rooms work?
A shared room is up to two people. If you book a shared place on your own, we match you with one other traveller of the same gender unless you ask us to pair you with someone you are travelling with. If you would rather not share, the private room price gives you the room to yourself.
Do I have to be really fit or a yogi to join?
No, absolutely not. Whether you love yoga, surfing, meditation, boot-camp or just want a week away to relax, one of our retreats can work for you. Our retreats flow with the energy of the group and the location. There are lots of activities on offer daily, but nothing is mandatory. Guests range from beginner to fitness fanatic. As long as you are open to trying new things and meeting new people, you will fit right in with the Tribe.
What is a day like?
For most retreats we start the day with meditation and/or yoga or a workout, then head out to surf, hike, snorkel or do other activities after breakfast. All classes are timed according to the tide schedule and the weather. Lunch is around mid-day, and there is a yoga class, meditation or other activity in the evening before dinner. After dinner, some go out, some stay and relax, and some sleep.
Which airport should I fly into, and how do transfers work?
Once you have a confirmed place we send you the itinerary with the arrival airport and recommended arrival window for that departure. Airport pick up and drop off in the destination is included in the price. Flights, visas and any transfers in your home country are not included.
What about food and dietary requirements?
Three healthy meals a day are included, tailored to your requirements — tell us about allergies or dietary preferences when you enquire and we arrange them with the kitchen before you arrive. Some meals are out at restaurants worth the detour rather than at the accommodation.
What is included in the price, and what is not?
It varies per retreat, but the price usually includes accommodation, airport pick up and drop off in the destination, yoga or a workout once a day, meditation once a day, three meals a day, daily trips, a giving-back element with the locals, and access to beautiful hidden locations. Zanzibar, Thailand and Cape Town also include surfing instruction and board rental. There is usually a welcome event or dinner and a workshop. Airfare, visas and airport transfers in your home country are not included.
How will I pay for the retreat?
A non-refundable 40% deposit holds your spot and goes towards your balance. After that you may pay in instalments; the balance is due one month before the retreat. Cancel 90 days or more before the start date and you are refunded the full amount paid, excluding the deposit. Cancel between 60 and 90 days before and you are refunded 50%, excluding the deposit. Cancellations less than 45 days before the start date are non-refundable. Because we commit to accommodation and arrangements in advance, exceptions cannot be made.
