The global coronavirus pandemic has led to a big push towards working from home with 70% of the global population now working remotely, but even before COVID-19 became a factor, the push to work from home was increasing with workers saying goodbye to their commute. It is no longer necessary to be in an office full-time to be a productive member of the team.

Apple, Google, Twitter & Amazon are among the largest global companies who have restricted travel or asked their employees to work remotely during this time, with no end date.

As appealing as remote work is for employees, it wouldn’t be such a strong trend (pre COVID-19) if employers didn’t also recognize the benefits. Companies with work-from-anywhere policies can boost employee productivity, reduce turnover, and lower organizational costs, according to a recent research at Harvard Business School.

When you work remotely, keeping a virtual team engaged can become a big problem, if there is no strategy put in place.

In 2019 a study done by Airtasker found that out of 1,004 full-time employees, found that: Remote employees work an additional 1.4 days per month than the in-office employees & 15% of remote workers said their boss distracted them from work, which is less than the 22% of the office-based employees who said the same thing.

This is based on the company using virtual strategies, schedules & remote-controlled team building.
